Festwich – Information for Local Residents

by prestwichfocus on 6 June, 2014

St Mary’s Park will be hosting the Festwich event again this year  on 26 & 27 July.

The information below is from the festival organisers for local residents:

Festwich will present the very best in tribute acts catering for all the family with a wide range of musical tastes from tributes acts such as The Doors to Led Zepellin, plus a community stage featuring local Prestwich talent from DJ’s to comedians.

As you know last year we worked extremely closely with the Councils Parks & Countryside Team, the police and other partners to ensure that any potential negative impact on the neighbourhood and local residents was kept to a minimum. The event was deemed a huge success by all parties involved.

We want to continue being good neighbours and minimize disruption and inconvenience wherever possible so please see information below relating to the concert and the measures which we are putting into place.

Preparation for the concert in relation to the sound will only take place on the day of each concert and will be no earlier running a test than 10am, the sound will not be continuous, and this is again to keep any potential disturbance at a minimum.

As the concert gets underway we are working with independent specialist sound consultants who will be constantly monitoring the sound levels within the neighbourhood to keep them at a minimum level.
The concert will start at 12 noon & finish at 10pm. In between live bands the sound will also be kept low with background music.

We will be staffing a community hotline telephone service in case you wish to contact us for any reason. Please be assured we will address any of your concerns. To assist us in answering any queries you may be asked to provide your name and contact number as we may need to call you back.

We genuinely hope there will be minimum disruption if any at all to you and your family and thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Should anyone have any concerns prior to the concert we are holding a drop in question and answer session at the Longfield suite on Thursday 5th June 6.30pm – 8.30pm and the 6th June 10.30am – 11.30am, the organizers and a representative for the police and council will be present to answer any question.

I would just like to ask why nobody is allowed to take food into festwich, I can understand drink but last year I took fruit as I don’t eat burgers or chips and was made to either throw it away or eat it before I went in.It now makes me not want to buy anything from the site, I would rather go and eat somewhere else and come back or not bother at all!
