    Hi Steve,
I am writing for some advise please, the new first buses timetable for the Carr clough area into Bury has changed completely. There is only one bus service in the day to Bury which is once an hour, which is the 95 so this means there is only one bus from Bury interchange to Carr clough. The 95 leaves Bury interchange at 3.36 and arrives in Carr clough. As a parent I would like to know who sets these timetables and did they realise that the finishing time for Bury Church high school and Holy cross college is 3.35 which means the children miss the 3.36 and has to wait one hour for the next, alternatively they can walk to the 97 bus stop which is further on Manchester road but will have alighting at St Anne’s road on Bury new road, I am very concerned that my daughter especially in winter can not get a direct bus back to Carr clough. Would you be able to advise me on who I can contact at First bus.

    Many thanks
Alison McLaughlin ( a very worried parent )

      Hi Alison

Basically the timetables are set by First Manchester, as they are ‘commercially run’ services. (Except some of the evening and weekend services which are subsidised by taxpayers). All the bus company has to do is provide notice on timetable changes, which First did.

It is a real loss in service to Carr Clough residents withing to travel northwards and although there has been a slight adjustment with an additional ‘shuttle’ up the Village it isn’t helpful to you wanting a link through to Bury College.

Not a very helpful response, but the only way to change this would be lobbying with First Manchester, might be worth seeing if there are more Bury College students (and others) affected. Though, previous experience with First is that they don’t often change their mind…..
