A56 is FIFTH most congested road in Britain (outside of London)

A global study of traffic and congestion published by INRIX has shown that A56 from Salford up to Prestwich is the FIFTH worst road in the UK for traffic congestion, outside of London.
The A6 through Stockport is the 8th worst, the A560/A6 through Salford the 10th worst. More information INRIX and this MEN article.

a56 flowed a lot better 20 years ago,
So the A56 in Prestwich is the 5th most congested road in the UK outside London and yet Bury Metro has just spent 2 million pounds changing a 4 lane road into a 2 lane one, thus making the congestion even worse.
They should be ashamed of themselves.
What a supprise. Single file, stop/start traffic. Traffic signals that are NOT in sequence to each other. Drove through Prestwich Village last week. Stopped at the Traffic Signals outside M&S. Then again at the pelican crossings outside the WhiteHourse, Longfield and finally the one outside Solita.
