Local NHS to host ‘Big7Tea’ with a spotlight on boosting mental health

by prestwichfocus on 18 July, 2018

Linked to the 70th birthday of the health service, NHS Bury Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is holding a Big7Tea event where local people can come along, have a cuppa and hear about social opportunities happening now across Bury that could have a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing.

These social opportunities, called ‘social prescribing’ or ‘community referral’, are often provided by organisations including voluntary, community and faith sector groups. They can be offered in the form of an activity linked to the arts, gardening, befriending and exercise and supports those who may suffer from mental health problems or are socially isolated to take greater control of their own health and wellbeing.

The CCG is hosting a Big7Tea event on Wednesday 25 July 2018 to celebrate 70 years of the NHS while having a conversation over a cuppa and a slice of cake (fruit will be available too) where people can come along to:

Hear about social opportunities happening in their community that might benefit them
Tell us what would help them and make a difference to their life
Let us know where they would like us to advertise social opportunities in the future, so that they can easily find out about them and join in
The event will start at 4.30 until 6 pm in the Peel Room of the Town Hall’s Elizabethan Suite, Knowsley Street, Bury.

To help them plan, people can book a place online, send us an e-mail or give us a call on 0161 253 7636.
