Holyrood Ward Community Grants PLUS your suggestions needed for bin locations

Thank you to everyone who submitted an application to the Holyrood Ward Community Grants programme for 2018-19. All councillors across Bury have been given a small amount of money to allocate to projects in their wards. In Holyrood Ward your three councillors have ‘pooled’ our allocation and asked you to apply for grants based on your community priorities.

In 2018-19 we have been able to make the following grants:

Heaton Park Methodist Church
Extra games/activities for the “Make Lunch” event (offering meals to children and families that usually have free school meals during school holidays) £500.00

Simister Village Community Association
New village green noticeboard £500.00

Langley Allotments 
Replacement table and 12 chairs for the allotment kitchen and meeting room. £500.00

Clean Team Prestwich
Help for more street litter bins in Holyrood Ward (see below) £500.00.

Prestwich Arts Festival
Contribution to the Pubic Entertainments Licence (PEL) to enable the event to take place £100.00

Guest Road Residents Association
Contribution to the costs of a community street event in 2019 £500.00.

Simister Allotment Allotment Association
Help to set this new organisation up and bring the allotments ‘back to life’ by sheeting a minimum of 10 plots. £500.00

Jigsaw Children’s Charity
Help to find the 2018 ‘Christmas Disco’ (at Our Lady of Grace Prestwich) aiming to help to reduce social isolation, allowing young disabled people to meet new people and build friendships. £500.00

Lady Wilton Hall
Funds for a new fridge and cooker to replace worn out equipment. £400.00.

Prestwich Plodders Women’s Running Group
Train more run leaders to enable runs on more days each week. £320.00

Bin Locations your Suggestions!
Clean Team Prestwich have suggested using their grant to place a number of new litter bins around Holyrood Ward. Please get in touch if you have suggestions on where would benefit from a new bin.
