Liberal Democrat Councillor for Holyrood Ward, Bury MBC Learn more

On Wednesday 19 February 2014 Bury Council will set its budget for 2014-2015.
This is an important meeting where the level of Council Tax is determined, together with decisions about how much money to spend on different services, and how much money to invest in new projects.
Like all public services there is very little money around as the country gets its finances into shape. But there are always choices to be made on different issues.
The Liberal Democrat councillors want to represent local residents as best as possible and would be interested to hear your views on the budget.
We are particularly interested in your views on three issues:
– should Bury freeze the council tax (i.e. no increase)? The Government is offering a grant to Councils who opt to freeze the Council Tax, but last year Bury Council turned down the grant to raise more money from Council Tax payers.
– if there were some money to spend, what services should we be spending more money on?
– are there any ways that you think the Council could save money?
We have done a short survey on the budget – click here to fill it in.
Thank you!
