Transport for Greater Manchester are currently considering changes to the 484 bus service. This runs
Eccles – Salford Royal Hospital – Swinton – Agecroft – Prestwich

Service 484 operates hourly on Monday to Saturday daytime. Recently, officers have been made aware of punctuality problems. To address these officers have been working, in partnership with the operator, to develop a revised timetable.

As part of this revision and general retiming to the service, officers are proposing that the route diversions to serve Ash Drive/Moss Lane in Wardley and Mossfield Road in Swinton be omitted from the following journeys:
? 08:21 Mondays to Fridays from Eccles to Prestwich; and
? 08:12 Mondays to Fridays from Prestwich to Eccles.

Recent surveys have shown that no passengers boarded or alighted on the Moss Lane/Ash Drive loop on either journey, whilst 2 passengers alighted and 1 boarded on Mossfield Road. However, these passengers used the service at the eastern end of Mossfield Road and could use alternative stops on Station Road, within approximately 100 metres.

The proposed revision would also result in the withdrawal of the cross-Eccles facility to Salford Royal Hospital on the last journey (18:37 ex Eccles). Recent surveys have shown that no passengers used this facility.
