Bury Town Hall and most non-critical services will be closed from 5pm on Thursday 23 December 2020 and will reopen again at 8.45am on Monday 4 January 2021. Some services will be operating with different opening times with key details below. For the full and up to date list see this post.

Bins are a Day Early

Bury Council is reminding residents throughout the borough of Bury that their bin collections will be a day earlier than usual in the week prior to Christmas.

Collections on Tuesday 29, Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 December are unchanged and collections due on Friday 1 January will take place one day later on Saturday 2 January. 

There will be no brown bin collections from 21 December to 1 January because garden waste is reduced at this time of year and most households will still have enough space in their brown bin for any extra food waste. Suspending brown bins for this short period also allows collection crews to put extra effort into emptying the other bins which can fill up more quickly at this time of year.

Metrolink Changes

• Thursday 24 December, Christmas Eve
  Normal Thursday service with last trams departing at approximately 8pm (6am to 7pm operating every 10 minutes, 7pm until 8pm every 20 minutes).
• Friday 25 December, Christmas Day
  No service.
• Saturday 26 December, Boxing Day
  Normal Sunday service (7am to 11pm with trams operating every 15 minutes). Access to Piccadilly Metrolink stop will be from Fairfield Street only.
• Thursday 31 December, New Year’s Eve
  Normal Thursday service (6am to 7pm operating every 10 minutes, 7pm until midnight every 20 minutes).
• Friday 1 January 2021, New Year’s Day
  Normal Sunday service (7am to 11pm with trams operating every 15 minutes).
